Vintage cotton crochet nightie + Vintage floral cotton maxi skirt + Ash Italia sandals
I'm always down for simple easy ensembles in the summer because life seems a little more hectic and feeling summer fresh is always a plus! I particularly applied this to my ensemble yesterday. It's composed of a vintage cotton/crochet night gown and a vintage cotton floral maxi skirt. I just added some accessories to take it up a notch. I also like to keep my skin as natural as possible too so I didn't really wear much yesterday other than some bronzer and pink/nude lips (which I luv during the summer) <3 This is what I wore yesterday:
Straw Floppy hat
Vintage cotton crochet night gown - Ebay
Vintage cotton floral maxi skirt - Etsy
Leather Cinch belt
Ash Italia sandals - Yoox.com

Hey friends I've been having computer trouble after accidently spilling water on it, yikes ;-( Thank God I was able to just purchase a new mouse and now I'm able to use it as normal, what a relief! Anyway I hope everyone is well and keeping cool in this heat wave. It was a hot one today here in Pittsburgh.
I still ventured out with the girls because today is my oldest daughter's birthday and we celebrated by going to lunch. We concluded the day by having ice cream as a family when daddy got home from work at Coldstone Creamery! Her actually party is Saturday <3

Vintage floral shirt dress + Lagelle's upcycle denim shorts + FRANCESCO MORICHETTI boots
I'm feeling sad because my hubby will be away for 5 days for grad school, he left today ;-( It's his last stretch before his summer break, yeah to the light at the end of the tunnel. It's been a stressful two years in this program and Lord willing he will be done this December! We celebrated Father's Day yesterday with our girls <3 I sent him off with two new cotton button down shirts from JCrew. I had him try them on and they looked great.
I will be keeping busy with the girls while he is away and before I know it, it will be Tuesday evening ;-)
Btw I tucked the sleeves of the shirt dress to create a cap sleeve effect because I didn't like the length of the sleeves as is, those types of details are always important to me. This is what I wore yesterday:
Straw Floppy hat
Gap tank top
Vintage floral shirt dress as a duster - Thrifty score
Vintage pendant necklace - Ebay
Lagelle's upcyle knitted edge denim shorts

Vintage crop top + Vintage acid wash denim skirt + Ash Italia sandals
I never thought I would be wearing anything remotely from the 80s but look at me now! I grew up during the 80s and I recall not liking the fashions at the time especially Acid wash denim, funny right? I guess it takes time and some peer pressure to give it a go. Anyway this is what I wore yesterday to run some errands with the girlies <3
Vintage 80s crop top - Thrifty score
Vintage 70s belt - Thrifty score
Vintage Acid wash denim skirt - Thrifty score
Boho indie necklace - Alma Lleras Jewelery

Straw floppy hat + Vintage india sheer gauze dress + Free People extreme flare denim
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Although summer is not officially here it's official in our household, my oldest started her summer break on Friday. We have lots of fun things planned ie. sewing classes, bible vacation camp, swimming. library trips and our summer vacation <3
I went to two estate sales this weekend and scored some vintage goodies! I've been getting back into estate sales but that can mean trouble. I'm always afraid of becoming a hoarder and when the fear over takes me I start getting rid of stuff really! I'm clearing some things out in my Etsy shop so check it out, especially the Sale section.
By the way the top I'm wearing is actually a dress that I twisted in the front and back to create a blouse. Remember how I mentioned I don't like midi length skirts/dresses, well this dress is a midi length. I tried belting it but I didn't like it either. I think I prefer it as a blouse. I couldn't resist the lovely pleated detailing, the sheer cotton fabric and overall design!
This is what I wore yesterday:
Straw Floppy hat
Vintage india dress - Antique mall
Free People extreme flare high waist denim
Vintage belt - thrifty score

Spotlight // Frou-Frou Foxes
This is the lovely Katie of Frou-Frou Foxes blog. She's a natural beauty and I was smitten with her retro chic vibe and her eye lashes are to die for! She is new to the blogging community so let's embrace her with a warm welcome! I know you will enjoy reading her interview below, have a great weekend friends <3
My name is Katie Anne. I live in southern Ontario, Canada with my partner and a kitty named Gertrude.
2. Where do you find/pull inspiration from?
i love all vintage. from the 1920's-1990's, i really love it all. i watch a lot of period pieces, so whatever i have been watching generally dictates what i am wearing. i've been pretty into films of my childhood lately: can't buy me love (87), pretty in pink (86), don't tell mom the babysitters dead (91), reality bites (94). i am a big fan of mixing eras- i like to showcase vintage pieces with a modern and fresh twist.
3. Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?
sunglasses
4. I never break this fashion rule........
there are no rules.
5. Your next must have purchase?
gladiator boots. like 60's style.
6. Most underrated item in women's wear?
nightgowns- they shouldn't always be saved for bedtime
7. For all the fashionistas, provide one piece of invaluable fashion advice:
oh geeze... i don't know! don't take yourself so seriously. getting dressed should be fun. it is all so silly, really. be your own person. wear what you want and what makes you comfortable. and don't judge people. fashion is so subjective and creative. we all see it differently. that is part of the fun. :)

Vintage 1950s cotton day dress + Vintage skinny belt + Ash Italia sandals
I was really excited when I found this dress a couple of weeks back! It's easy and simple! It came with it's original skinny belt but I decided to wear one of my favorite skinny belts instead for contrast and to tie in my sandals. These days I've been focused on making on my vintage pieces look more modern instead of looking like I came right out of a particular era (although there is nothing wrong with that if that is your thing, I tried that for a period of time ;-) This is what I wore on Sunday:
Vintage 1950s cotton day dress - Avalon Exchange Pgh
Vintage skinny belt - Thrifty score
Vintage jewelry - Etsy, Ebay, Thrift & 2nd hand boutique
Ash Italia sandals - Yoox.com
Ash Italia sandals - Yoox.com

Upcycle Lagelle floral crop top + DIY denim shorts + Ash Italia sandals
We had a long stretch of good weather but today the rain came. If you wonder why I comment about the weather often it's because it seems as if consistent good weather is rare for Pittsburgh but I'm not complaining about the rainy because it's what we need. I do love the rain showers this time of year because they are often short lived and then the sun usually comes out <3
This is what I wore yesterday:
Lagelle's upcycle floral cotton top
Pink cotton tank top - Thrifty score
DIY denim cut-off shorts - Originally thrifted
Ash Italia sandals - Yoox.com
