A knitting swatch

Knitting a swatch before you start a knitting project is important so you can get an idea on how things will turn out and it's great for practice too.  I must admit I use to hate to make these because I felt like it was a waste of time (foolish me).  When I first started to knit almost 8 years now I was so eager to get ritght into my project but would become very frustrated if I made a mistake.  I've come a long way since than and I've learned to embrace the swatching process. I enjoy practicing just because, knowing it will help me to hone in my skills.  Happy thursday! <3

I never thought.................

I never thought I would like to wear animal print anything, seriously I've been against it for as long as I can remember but look at me now <3  I've been looking for a lovely silk animal print blouse during my thrifting outings and scored this one a week ago. Just to share, I particularly love when great quality leather boots have a great fit in the ankle area and these boots which are over ten years old were given to me as a Christmas gift via my  awesome hubby early in our marriage have that great ankle fit detail.  This it what I'm wearing:
Silk blouse - Thrifty score
Vintage silk scarf - Estate sale
American Apparel high waist skirt - Swirl Deals by Daily Candy
Vintage belt
Spanx tights
Black leather boots - NYC
Vintage bangles - Mostly thrifted

It's not spring yet!

Pittsburgh has been experiencing some lovely spring like weather lately and I'll take it!  I know there will be plenty of bone chilling days ahead but when it's warm & sunny oh boy how light and refreshing it is.  Btw I'm excited about the new colors I received in the mail for Lagelle's Fall/Winter 2012 collection.  The yarn is 100% baby alpaca and it doesn't get any softer than that! Happy Monday <3  This is what I'm wearing:

Vintage silk scarf - thrifty score
Silk blouse - Jcrew
Leggings - Off Saks outlet

My best kept secret = Pittsburgh is #1 for thrifting!

I'm letting my favorite pet cat out of the bag!  Pittsburgh has so much to be proud of and let's just list a few here (in no particular order):
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
2. Pittsburgh Penguins
3. No. 1 most livable city
4. 2nd hand, thrifting and estate sale shopping! **

I'm always amazed at what I find at local thrift stores, estate sales and 2nd hand boutiques in the greater Pittsburgh area!  If you don't believe me the collage above featuring mostly high end and international fashion house brands have all come from either thrifting, estate sales and or 2nd hand boutiques right here in the Steel City.  Mostly all these items have gone on to find new homes but two are still up for grabs: 1. Vintage GUCCI crossbody handbag and 2. Coco Chanel black leather booties

3. Vintage Gucci suede clutch SOLD  4. Emilo Pucci small clutch/wallet SOLD  5. Vintage Gucci leather wallet SOLD  6. Vintage Louis Vuitton speedy handbag SOLD  7. Coco Chanel black/white heels SOLD  8. Vintage Gucci speedy handbag SOLD
**Feel free to contact me via  lagelle_fashion@yahoo.com  for my expert services, I'm always up for a challenge!

Happy New Year from us to you

We rang in the New Year comfortably at home last night.  It's tough getting a babysitter on New Years Eve but it didn't stop us from dressing up festive and having a lovely fancy homemade meal courtesy of my hubby <3  I look forward to what 2012 will bring and I reflect on all I learned in 2011!  Thank you to everyone that has supported me and shown me kindness, may you be blessed in a rich way this New Year!
