I must admit coming up with a creative/fun blog post title a couple times a week can be pose a challenge! Knitting a swatch before you start a knitting project is important so you can get an idea on how things will turn out and it's great for practice too. I must admit I use to hate to make these because I felt like it was a waste of time (foolish me). When I first started to knit almost 8 years now I was so eager to get ritght into my project but would become very frustrated if I made a mistake. I've come a long way since than and I've learned to embrace the swatching process. I enjoy practicing just because, knowing it will help me to hone in my skills. Happy thursday! <3

I never thought I would like to wear animal print anything, seriously I've been against it for as long as I can remember but look at me now <3 I've been looking for a lovely silk animal print blouse during my thrifting outings and scored this one a week ago. Just to share, I particularly love when great quality leather boots have a great fit in the ankle area and these boots which are over ten years old were given to me as a Christmas gift via my awesome hubby early in our marriage have that great ankle fit detail. I'm always amazed at what I find at local thrift stores, estate sales and 2nd hand boutiques in the greater Pittsburgh area! I've always had a love for a lovely silk scarf but I think I've been won over yet again. These days bold, vintage silk scarves have captured my heart! I prefer them over necklaces any day. I do regret getting rid of some a while back for no other reason then downsizing. Home sweet home! I've been on the road for the past two weekends selling my Lagelle accessories. I got to meet some great people and visit some cool cities too! My GAP floppy hat that I purchased on sale in the girls dept. a couple of years back has become a staple accessory for me. I've noticed it's become my go to hat for the pass several ensembles. I was inspired to create this look via the Free People holiday catalog I recently received in the mail. I really enjoy being more relaxed & carefree when getting dress but sometimes I really want to look sloppy cool, I'm not sure if you can relate to that feeling? However I always come off with a more polished version of what inspires me. I think it's because I like order in my life and it spills over in how I pull and style my ensembles. Details are so important to me and so no matter how much I appreciate the Boho grunge look I don't know if I could let myself walk out the house that way? Anyway this is what I wore yesterday:

Spotted: Zandra Rhodes wearing a Lagelle Cloche

So the cat is out of the bag! I had the opportunity to meet Zandra Rhodes last week at a fashion event being held at Larrimor's in Pittsburgh,PA. If you're asking who is Zandra Rhodes you must have been hiding in a cave for the last 40years lol! As if she needed an intro. but I will do my best to tell you a little bit about this wonderful international famous British designer. She launched her career in 1967 with her own shop, in 1969 one of her collections was featured in American Vogue, in 1977 she earned the title "Princess of Punk" because of a pink and black jersey collection she pioneered. She continues to have a successful career in the world of fashion but it doesn't stop there. Zandra also designs costumes and sets for operas internationally, which brings me to why she is gracing our presence here in Pittsburgh. She is currently here designing the sets and costumes for The Pearl Fishers opera. Last week she took a break from her busy schedule to give some valuable advice to young designers and Art Institute students about getting started in the fashion industry. I had the privilege of being featured as one of the local designers. She modeled a red/black Lagelle Cloche and loved it! I felt compelled to say thank you by giving her the very hat she modeled. She's been wearing it proudly here in Pittsburgh ever since (as shown above).

I'm still on that high and taking that momentum to my upcoming shows in Toronto,Canada and the Renegade show in Chicago,IL. I will be posting more info on these events soon.

My name is Virginie, I am French Canadian, I live in Québec city and work as a movie producer. Last year I quit my job at a filmmakers art center to start my own production company. I make movies with my husband and artists that inspire me. I have big dreams and use clothes as a way to achieve them. 1. How do you describe your personal style?

I would say romantic with a pop twist. I am mainly inspired by the French New Wave era and Japanese pop culture.

2. Where do you find/pull inspiration from?

I get a lot of inspiration from blogs and I read a lot of them! Otherwise I mostly inspire myself from my life and the beautiful things around me (I listen to my heart a lot). Nature is a huge inspiration,as are movies, which are really an extension of life.

3. Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?

I have to say tights (but leg wear in general) because I live in a cold climate and wear mostly dresses. They come in all colours, textures and patterns and can make a huge difference to an outfit!

4. I never break this fashion rule.....

I can’t think of any… I’m willing to try anything once!

5. Your next must have purchase?

I can’t pick just one! I think it’s important to have a well balanced wardrobe and right now mine is lacking a fabulous watch and another great coat for the colder months.

6. Most underrated item in women's wear?

The right underwear maybe? Makes a huge difference.

7. For all the fashionistas, provide one piece of invaluable fashion advice.

Be creative and have fun!

But from a more practical place I would say: pay attention to proportions because you can wear anything if you play the proportions right and only buy items you can remix into at least 5 outfits. A flexible wardrobe = bliss!

1) How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is a mixture of so many things. I don't like to say no to anything! But what probably defines my style is that I always wear some element of floral- it's just my thing! I scour all my local thrift stores for floral dresses, skirts, blouses and pants and there is hardly a day that I don't wear something that's vintage floral.

2) Where do you find/pull inspiration from?

I try to steer clear from pulling inspiration directly from street style blogs, because I think most of the time what those people wear are really expensive designer labels that, as a university student, I can't dream of being able to afford! Instead I like seeing what my fellow students are wearing to class, or look at the shop windows of high street stores. I'm all about accessible fashion!

3) Name one fashion accessory you can't live without.

There are two that I can't function without! One, my gold digital Casio watch, which I haven't taken off for about 3 years. I don't know what I'd do without a wristwatch, and it's just a bonus that it looks good with everything! And two, my collection of navy blue crewneck sweaters. I wear them a little cropped and they go with EVERYTHING- maxi skirts, shorts, over dresses, with pants.....they're my go-to pieces when I don't know what to wear!

4) I never break this fashion rule...

Pairing brown shoes with a black bag or vice versa. Call me old fashioned but I just think this looks so bad. I buy almost all of my accessories from thrift stores, but all you need is one black bag and one brown one and you'll never fall victim to this fashion crime! It just looks so much more put together if you've got a bit of matchy-ness.

5) My next purchase

A vintage print floral dress from Australian retailer Sportsgirl (it's like the Australian version of Topshop). I have about 20 floral dresses already but I can never get enough. I've got my eye on this one because it shows off an ample amount of collarbone- always a good thing hehe- and it has an asymmetrical hem, for that something extra.

6) What do you think is the most underrated item in womenswear?

A short skirt! Everyone in the blogosphere is going crazy over the maxi skirt and dress at the moment but I love seeing girls wearing skater skirts, pencil skirts, even little culottes.

7) Invaluable fashion advice

Good posture and confidence! The amount of times I've walked out the door wearing a questionable outfit is countless....but if you stand up tall and act like you planned to wear that hot pink singlet/super high waisted jeans/crippling high heels/see through skirt you'll totally pull it off. Don't slouch and look miserable- after all if you've got the luxury of choosing what to wear everyday you might as well have fun!

1. How do you describe your personal style?
I would say my style is a mix and match of a lot of things. It really depends on my mood that day, honestly. Some days I feel like dressing more 90s baggy-top-high-wasited-cut-offs grunge when other days I like to put a dress on and throw some boots with it. Overall, I would say my style is alternative meets bohemian meets mash-up of everything else. I like mixing patterns and textures and adding TONS of jewelry. Always jewelry.

2. Where do you find/pull inspiration from?
I read a lot of blogs, and being a hair stylist, I have to keep up with fashion and trends. So I pull my inspiration from there and really just looking around. And movies and tv. Older movies/tv mostly. For now we will say Daria, My So Called Life, and maybe a little 5th Element in there as well.

3. Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?
Jewelry. Hands down. I pile it on every day. I did a post awhile back showing where I live, and it turns out I own a LOT of jewelry. Too many pictures taken of just my jewelry collection.

4. I never break this fashion rule........
Rules! That's what I don't break. Having fashion rules. No rules for me.

5. Your next must have purchase?
The next thing I would like to purchase are some summer boots. Something low cut, that goes with almost everything...especially cut-off jean shorts. I have been searching, but I haven't found that perfect pair yet. Any ideas?

6. Most underrated item in women'swear?
Undergarments! Bralettes, things that go under tops. Everyone loves to wear a sheer top, but it's hard to find something to wear underneath it. Personally, I don't want to wear a tank top under a sheer top. So, strappy bralettes and funky bandeaus are a must.

7. For all the fashionistas, provide one piece of invaluable fashion advice.
Be fun. Be different. Don't completely follow trends, find something within those trends that you can take from it, and make it your own. And confidence is KEY. You can look great in a potato sack if you are confident in it. :-)

My personal style is so varied but usually always vintage. I love wearing 1930s-1970s clothing. A lot of people tell me I dress with a Mori style or prairie style or retro styles. I see each of them. Overall I just like dressing modestly.

I think I mainly find inspiration from a mixture of My mom from the 60s&70s, Pippi Longstocking, Sandra Dee, Doris Day, Anne Shirley, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Susan Dey, The Waltons (mainly Mary-Ellen!), and classic Doctor Who companions from the 1970s (Romana I&II, Leela, Sarah-Jane Smith, and Jo Grant).

Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?
I honestly am not one who is into material possessions honestly but I truly love putting flowers in my hair (be it fake or real).

I didn't know fashion had rules. I just always liked to be me even if it didn't go with the current trends (which is why for a couple decades I was mocked for how I dressed because it didn't fit in with my peers' fashion sense). If I were to create a rule, I'd say I NOW try to dress with the concern of if my clothing would cause a man to lust or not. I think it is good to be cautious of other people's struggles with lust and try to help them from stumbling into sexual sin, because I've known many guys who have come out of or still have lust and porn addictions.

Your next must have purchase?

I don't think I need anything, so I don't have to have anything and really haven't bought anything in a couple of months.

Most underrated item in women'swear?

I think slips (full & half) and petticoats are too under-rated. They are amazing to wear and are especially helpful when it is windy out. I don't really know how girls can NOT wear them! They make me feel so much more comfortable!

When you are into dressing modestly, keep in mind that you are not better than anyone else because you might seem more concerned about how your appeal can harm someone else or because your ideals are to keep your body for the enjoyment of your mate alone. Instead make sure that you are kind to all people even if they wear hardly anything, because most of them are unaware of the power of their clothing and bodies. They may have no idea that what they wear truly can have an affect on someone else. Be patient with others and loving and try to help them but don't tell them what they should and shouldn't wear. It is a heart issue and in time they will learn to be more cautious. Be a role model in how you dress and perhaps it can encourage them to cover up a little more.

Short sleeved tee shirts. As much as tank tops and racer backs are sexy, so is a
plain white tee when it is shaped right, tucked in at the right place in your
jeans or leather pants, or skirt. I love tees from American vintage for their
v-neck and shape around the edges.

How do you describe your personal style?
Experimental, i would say. I especially like flea market finds, because of the recycling aspect and because i like to challenge my flexibility, not relevant for me is if the clothes are bohemian, ethno, military, or whatever inspired.

(I also would love to wear haute couture everyday, but the e$$ential is missing for the flexibility in this case ;-)

Where do you find/pull inspiration from?
I like the inspiration exchange on flickr groups, but i also get inspired by people on the streets and on travels.

Boots (do they count as accessory?) if not, i like necklaces as well!

I'm not a good "rule" person in general. I break them all, though, I try to avoid that underwear (like bra strips) are visible somewhere, but often i break even that easy rule...

Actually i'm looking for a nice fabric on ebay because i want to sew a dress.

Most underrated item in women's wear?
For sure (and you will comfirm) a cute beret or a hat can make a great difference, it can change a whole look. In my case the berets have a second relevant utility, to hide the mess underneath.

How do you describe your personal style?
My personal style goes through phases! Right now though, I'd describe it as girly-classic with a touch of bohemian, and gypsy accessorizing tendencies.

Where do you find/pull inspiration from?
I find inspiration everywhere- from magazines to music- but I mostly pull inspiration from the curvaceous screen sirens of the forties and fifties (think Marilyn Monroe in today's trends- I love all the curve-excentuating clothing!), as well as images of exotic places, old Bollywood films and fashion spreads.

Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?
One fashion accessory I can't live without are earrings! Earrings can change an outfit in the most dramatic way, as well as perk-up your mood. (They can easily take your look from drab to fab, and transform it into a completely different style).

I never break this fashion rule....
I never break the rule of fit. It's extremely important to wear great fitting clothes, no matter what your size and shape. Wearing the right fit and can make you appear 10 pounds lighter than form-fitting in the wrong places. For me personally, I prefer almost everything nipped-in at the waist.

Your next must have purchase?
My next must-have purchase is this amazing pair of Jessica Simpson, strappy espadrille wedges in cream/nude (imagine the outfit possibilities!) Nude heels are timeless, but roped, espadrille wedges make a statement.

Most underrated item in women's wear?
I think the most under-rated item in women's wear is the tailored blazer. Funny I'm referencing a menswear inspired staple, right?! But it's so true- most of us forget the power of tailoring, and if you have a great fitting blazer that accentuates your waist, it can not only be paired with almost anything, but it will also last you a lifetime without ever going out of style.

One piece of fashion advice I always give is don't fall for trends unless they speak to your personal style. I do believe in incorporating trends, but not always completely adopting them. If you stay true to your personal style, what looks good on you and what you feel good in, your look will speak volumes more than the current trend you're wearing.

Simple 60s inspired style, with a bit of a modern twist. I like the quirky color combinations of that era.

Fashion blogs, Flickr Wardrobe Remix, Chictopia, 60s movies, etc. I used to read tons of Japanese fashion magazines but now I subscribe only to Fudge.

Colored tights. I like how they make an outfit look so different.

Never wear black unnecessarily. I find the color black tricky and wear it only when it's combined with bright colors, including white.

5. Your next must have purchase?
Platform shoes in a light shade of grey or beige. I still haven't found the perfect ones within my budget so my search will continue.

6. Most underrated item in women's wear?
Hats. It's just my personal preference but I like it when people wear hats.

I don't know if I'm competent to give an advice to fashinistas, but I think people should wear what they want. I don't like the idea of considering too much about their age, bodytype, or trends.

1. My personal style can simply be described as minimalist. I think it's equally as beautiful and with the right accessories you can make a very plain and simple outfit into something special.

2. I find inspiration in everything, most of the time I get annoyed when I get ideas and I have to put them down when I just want to relax. But I keep getting ideas and ways to do certain things, my mind is a jungle you wouldn't want to be in there.lol.

3. An accessory I can't live without is rings, they are very simple statement, but I also have become a fan of those bead bracelets for a while now. Sadly my wrist is small and needs custom made ones so I don't get the chance to buy them often.

4. I never break this fashion rule: wearing too many accessories, it's something I can do. Sometimes wearing a lot of accessories works but that depends on the accessories and there are sometimes when just one accessory is just perfect.

5. I have a lot of new purchases to make, since I recently cleared some clothes from my closet to take to the thrift store. But my next must have purchase is a pair of black pumps, you can never go wrong with those. Also a corset, moccasins, checker shirt and wedge pumps to name a few that I have my mind set to buy. Oh yeah, Micheal Kors over-sized gold wrist watch.

6. Hmmm... that's a hard one. I think those outfits that are a must have in every woman's wardrobe are underrated at times.

7. Don't let trends rule you, and that's one thing that the industry never emphasizes on because of marketing. As lovely as a trend is, it doesn't work for everyone and if a trend works for you and it's over, doesn't mean you can't wear it anymore. Trends always come back.

While I see every day as a chance to be able to dress in a different style than the day before, I tend to gravitate towards classic, romantic pieces. I always seem to end up in ultra-feminine pieces like skirts and ruffles.

2. Where do you find/pull inspiration from?
I find endless amounts of inspiration from the blogging world. There's so many bloggers that have such amazing style and ideas and I love to feed off that. I love getting ideas from magazine spreads and movies, especially classic movies. I also like to try to emulate runway looks from pieces I already have, I find that to be such a good way to make new outfits with whats already in my closet.

3. Name one fashion accessory you can't live without?
A pair of black boots. They're classic and universal, you could literally wear them with anything.

make sure to have an appropriate skin to clothing ratio. I'm kind of weird about making sure I don't have too much skin exposed. If I'm wearing a miniskirt, I try not to wear a tube top or shirt with a plunging neckline. Sometimes that's hard to do in California, but when in doubt, just put on a dress.

I'm on the look out for a cute short dress with long sleeves and a bohemian feel.

6. Most underrated item in a women's wardrobe?
a slip! People don't give enough credit to slips. So many fashion crises are adverted with a slip, I honestly don't know what I'd do without mine.

My mom always told me, it isn't what you wear, it's how you wear it. You can spend ridiculous amounts of money on high end designer clothes and look fashionable--because they're beautiful clothes. But those who can make something out of nothing, or take something old and make it new again, are the ones that have true style.

I want to start thrifting regularly again so I went out today and I scored the above lootage! A sweet vintage toy highchair, a vintage blue Pyrex bowl, a pair of gently used Ecco girls sandals, a pair of girls leggins, a very cute vintage Daisy flower pin & a pair of fabulous vintage Studio Paolo bootie heels in my size 9B! So my biggest thrifting secret is to haggle/negotiate prices. That's right when I see something wrong w/an item I want to buy knowing that I can fix it etc. I ask if I can have a discount on the item. I normally can get the item 1/2 off which is awesome. It might not work every time but it works most of the time for me. I even go as far as asking to speak to a manager if need be. I have some awesome thrift stores here in Pittsburgh but because thrifting has become so popular the prices at the thrift stores can be over priced in my book so haggling is always on my agenda.
